rembrandt lighting

A studio lighting technique for portraits that was first characterized by the painter Rembrandt. In Rembrandt lighting, the shadow side of the face shows a diamond shaped area of illumination under the eye. It is done by positioning a main light to one side of the subject and a reflector or less powerful light on the opposite side. It is an easy lighting set up and looks natural.
